Nursing at UCH, UCH-C, and Pepin Heart Hospital

At University Community Hospital, University Community Hospital-Carrollwood, and Pepin Heart Hospital & Dr. Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, RNs have the opportunity to work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, including critical care, surgical services, the Emergency Department, medical surgical, rehabilitation, or one of our five Centers of Excellence that include: The Women’s Center for women’s health and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Care Center, Center for Cancer Care, Diabetes Care Institute, and the Orthopaedic Care Center. At University Community Hospital, nurses believe that the practice of nursing is evidence-based, patient focused and united by respect, professional excellence, collaboration, and a commitment to caring.

Nursing Excellence

University Community Hospital empowers nurses to strive for excellence through several committees that focus on nursing research and evidence-based practice as well as shared governance structures. These include unit based journal clubs, the Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Council, the Nursing Quality and Safety Committee, the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice Council, the Clinical Standards Council, and the Clinical Practice Council.
